Dr. Ross Tomlin has been appointed president of Tillamook Bay Community College

(Tillamook, OR, May 2, 2017) The Tillamook Bay Community College board of education is proud to announce the appointment of Ross Tomlin, Ed.D. as president of Tillamook Bay Community College (TBCC). Dr. Tomlin became president May 1 under a three-year contract. Prior to the appointment he held the role of vice president at the college.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Tomlin take the helm as our new president,” shared Billy Schreiber, TBCC board chair. “We have come a long way as a college over the past 10 years with new buildings, independent accreditation and broadened offerings and online courses. We feel Dr. Tomlin’s strong background in leadership and experience with rural communities will bring value to the college, our students and the community. We feel he is the right person at the right time to lead the college forward.”

Dr. Tomlin holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and a doctorate of educational leadership from University of La Verne, La Verne California. He has spent the past 35 years either teaching or leading at community colleges. He began his career in community colleges as faculty in the forestry department at Treasure Valley Community College in Eastern Oregon. He went on to serve as an instructional dean at Central Oregon Community College and then vice president of instruction at Umpqua Community College. Prior to joining TBCC he served as vice president of instruction and student services at Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, Oregon.

“I am very excited and humbled to become president of this amazing college. I am looking forward to working with the excellent faculty, staff, and Board as well as the communities throughout Tillamook County to continue the excellent work that has been done there over the past seven years under Dr. Green’s leadership,” Tomlin shared about taking on the role of president.

Dr. Connie Green who is retiring from the president’s role will assist TBCC as president emeritus through June 2017 by attending to the legislative issues affecting community colleges and TBCC.  “It’s been an honor and gift to me to serve our community as president of TBCC and Dr. Tomlin is an excellent choice to lead the college into the future,” Green stated.
