March 1 2017 – Author Reading with Bob Dietsche

Tillamook Bay Community College to Host an Author Signing by Local Jazz Historian Bob Dietsche
Please join us at the Tillamook Bay Community College Library Wednesday March 1st from 5:30 – 7 pm to celebrate renowned Jazz Broadcaster & Historian Bob Dietsche as he reads from his latest book, Tatum’s Town. His debut work, Jumptown : the golden years of Portland jazz, 1942-1957, was listed by The Guardian as one of the best 10 books about Oregon on their book blog in May 2015. Both books invite readers into the rich Jazz cultural past of their city. While Jumptown detailed Portland Oregon’s Jazz Scene; Tatum’s Town reveals Toledo Ohio’s historical Jazz community. Bob has hobnobbed with most of the great Jazz musicians of the times and now we have an opportunity to hear some of those amazing stories right from his lips. Mr. Dietsche will also be offering autographed copies of his books for sale. Bob Dietsche has a passion for teaching Jazz Composition to local musicians . He said the catalyst for renewing his passion to teach was a student from 40 years ago recently reaching out to thank him for his guidance. It proves just how far through history those musical notes still ring. Plan on bringing a piece of Jazz history home with you Wednesday March 1st.
