TBCC Strategic Plan 2017-2021

  The College made changes to the Strategic Framework in 2017-18 to position the college to be ready for the Year 7 accreditation visit in 2021. The revised plan is titled “TBCC Strategic Plan 2017-2021”. Starting with the objectives and measures from the Strategic Framework, The Leadership Team decided to simplify the plan and clarify the indicators being measured for mission fulfillment with clear and concrete thresholds. The draft results were then shared with all staff at Fall In-Service 2017 where the staff provided input and feedback on the objectives and measures. Changes were then made to the list based on this feedback before taking the list to the Board for approval. This was done in October and November 2017. The results are 14 total objectives across the three core themes with a total of 31 measures with concrete thresholds that will allow the College to quantitatively measure the achievement of each objective and therefore each core theme.  The measures will be modified throughout the 2017-18 academic year to come up with a final set to move forward with in 2018-19.  There will be small adjustments to the objectives and measures annually, but it is important that most of the measures remain constant through 2021 to give the College four full years to compare data and results to show trends. The process used by the College to measure success in achieving objectives and measures is called Mission Fulfillment. The definition for Mission Fulfillment at TBCC is: TBCC achieves an Acceptable or Minimally Acceptable level in 70% or more of the Measures within each Core Theme and across all Core Themes.  The Mission Fulfillment Report for 2016-17 showed a 90% success rate, so TBCC achieved its mission this year. Mission Fulfillment will be measured in the early fall term each year using the previous year’s data.  This report will be shared with all faculty and staff and the Board of Education each fall term.

Official Accreditation Statement

Tillamook Bay Community College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality evaluated through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation. Accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution. Comprehensive Initial Accreditation Evaluation Process

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) accepted TBCC’s Application for Candidacy in summer of 2006. The College prepared a Self Study Report (2008) and hosted a site visit for initial candidacy in October 2008. In January 2009, NWCCU recognized TBCC as a Candidate for Accreditation. The College hosted a site visit for interim evaluation for candidacy in May 2010. On the basis of that visit, NWCCU granted TBCC continued candidacy. The College hosted a site visit for interim evaluation for candidacy in October 2011. On the basis of that visit, candidacy for TBCC was continued and a site visit for initial accreditation was scheduled for fall 2013 by NWCCU. In January 2014, TBCC received notification that  NWCCU granted initial accreditation to Tillamook Bay Community College at the associate degree level. Accreditation was granted retroactive to September 2013.
