GED

GED Classes are available in English or Spanish. Completing the GED, the equivalent of a high school diploma, is an important step in a student’s education and future.

GED FAQs:

Anyone can sign up for TBCC GED classes! We welcome students of all experience levels and from all walks of life, and it’s never too late to get a GED. We offer GED courses in English and Spanish year-round. If you are under 18 years of age, see more details below.

Individuals must be at least 16 years old to enroll in TBCC GED classes. Students who are under the age of 18 and are currently enrolled in high school need to obtain a “Release from compulsory Attendance” form from their school. Homeschool students need to obtain an “Intent to Homeschool” letter from their local Education Service District.

Students under 18 can take practice tests at any time. However, before taking a formal test an age restriction must be removed from your GED account by TBCC Testing Center staff. Usually, the Testing Center can use the “Release from Compulsory Attendance” form you submit when you register for the GED course. Please ask the TBCC Testing Center for more details.

To sign up for classes please contact Student Services at (503) 842-8222 ext. 1100, visit them at our main campus, 4301 Third Street, Tillamook, or email studentservices@tillamookbaycc.edu.

The GED class costs $15 per term.

Students can sign up at any time during the term. If you are not able to pay the fee, the college may be able to help. If you need help, please contact Student Services at (503) 842-8222 ext. 1100, visit them at our main campus, 4301 Third Street, Tillamook, or email studentservices@tillamookbaycc.edu.

GED tests can be taken in the TBCC Library, Room 209. Testing hours vary. Sign-up, scheduling, and payment for testing is done online at www.ged.com. If you are in a TBCC GED course and a voucher has been assigned to you, you will still schedule a test on the GED website. TBCC staff are available to answer questions about the scheduling process at the Library. Step-by-step instructions are provided. You may take the tests without taking the GED preparation classes.

Testing accommodations are arranged on GED.com by students. Because the GED test is offered by a third party, TBCC does not have control over accommodations and can’t approve accommodations based on a prior K-12 IEP or accommodations that TBCC Student Accessibility Services approved for the GED class. See the GED.com Accommodations webpage for more information.

Please bring current government photo identification, which includes a signature, to your testing appointment. You must bring the physical ID; we cannot accept a digital picture of an ID, a photocopy of an ID, or a temporary DMV paper license. Calculators, whiteboards, and earplugs are provided by the Testing Center. Locked cabinets are available to store your personal belongings.

In Oregon, the fee is $44.00 per test, and test retakes are $10.00. However, test costs for practice tests and official subject tests are covered for students enrolled in and attending a TBCC GED course, with the exception of retakes. Only in-person subject tests are covered. Students must receive instructor approval before testing to have a testing voucher assigned.

Yes! All students who were enrolled in the TBCC GED course and have completed their GED during the school year are invited to celebrate their achievement by participating in the TBCC Graduation ceremony in June. For more information on Graduation, contact Angel Cavanaugh, Engagement Advisor at angelcavanaugh@tillamookbaycc.edu or (503) 842-8222 ext. 1154.

You’ll receive an email letting you know when your scores are ready. Typically, you will receive this email within one business day; however, in some cases it may take up to two business days, especially if you tested on a Friday, Saturday, or the day before a holiday.

Your scores will also be available on your MyGED Dashboard.

To access your dashboard, simply login to www.ged.com

To order an official GED transcript to be sent to you, to share with an employer, or to send to a college, order from the GED Testing Service website at https://www.ged.com/life_after_ged/. If you completed your GED in Oregon in 2014 or later, you will be asked to log in to your GED account. If you tested before 2014 in Oregon, you will be asked to create a GED account before making an order. If you have forgotten your login credentials, contact the GED Testing Service to reset.

Further FAQs for earning a GED in Oregon can be found at the GED Testing Service Website page on Oregon policies.
