First-time TBCC Students

Congratulations! You are about to take an important step toward ensuring that you and your family have a bright, successful future.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, people with an associate’s degree earn about $6,000 more every year than those with just a high school diploma.

You are investing now to increase your future opportunities.

How do I apply?

TBCC has an open admissions policy and welcomes students from all educational backgrounds. Our degree and certificate programs are designed to promote equal access to educational opportunities and provide services that maximize your potential and development and prepare you for the workforce or to transfer on to a four-year university.

Step 1: Apply

Start your application now!

Step 2: Placement Assessment

For accurate placement into college-level courses, your skills in reading, writing, and math are assessed before registration. Assessment in these areas may be demonstrated with a placement test, a previous college transcript or degree, Smarter Balanced test scores of 3 or 4 (with approved high school courses in each area), or SAT, ACT, or other college placement assessments.

TBCC offers placement testing through the TBCC Library. This is not a graded or a “pass or fail” test. The scores are used to place a student into an appropriate course. To take a placement test, contact the TBCC Librarian 503-842-8222 ext. 1720 for the assessment schedule or visit our main campus library.

If you have questions about this process please contact Student Services by either emailing us at, calling us 503-842-8222 ext. 1100, or visiting us at 4301 Third Street, Tillamook.

Step 3: Complete New Student Orientation

After applying and assessing your placement, all new students taking credit courses must complete a New Student Orientation. This helps you to learn the tools and resources available to help you be successful at TBCC.

The sign up for New Student Orientation is located on MyTBCC. Dates and times are also published in the TBCC Schedule of Classes each term.

How do I register for classes?

Once you are admitted you will be issued a student ID and temporary password to the personal email that you provided during the application process. Follow the instructions provided. Then, after you have completed New Student Orientation, you are now ready to login and register for courses online!
