Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Training

Commercial Drivers License Training

Start Driving on Your Road to Success!

The United States is experiencing a great shortage of truck drivers, with current need estimated around 60,000. Companies in Tillamook County report similar trends. Tillamook Bay Community College seeks to build bridges within our community. One of the newest bridges is the Commercial Driver’s License Training Program which is connecting students looking for a career that provides a living wage, and local businesses looking for qualified local drivers. Glassdoor reports a median income of over $55,000 per year for truck drivers making this a solid career for those interested.

The program consists of four weeks of training. The first week is in the classroom located in the PRI Building at 4506 3rd St. in Tillamook, where students learn rules and regulations, best-practices, and how to fill out the log book. The remaining three weeks take place out at the Port of Tillamook Bay where the students get behind the wheel and learn how to operate the truck. This program is designed to prepare students to take and pass their CDL exam.

TBCC has also partnered with Clatsop Community College to provide this CDL training in Astoria. The classroom portion of the class is held in the Merts Campus at 6550 Liberty LN Astoria, OR 97103. The driving portion of the class is held at 90886 Fort Clatsop Rd, Astoria, OR 97103, on land owned by the Warrenton Fiber Company.
