Associate of Applied Science: Healthcare Administration (AAS)

AAS Healthcare Administration provides a comprehensive introduction to becoming a frontline leader in healthcare. Courses in business administration, finance, and human resources prepare students for positions to oversee a department or team by learning how to lead people and manage office operations. Students also gain clinical hands-on training in their choice of a career pathway certificate in medical assisting, emergency medical services, or phlebotomy, which enable them to make the best possible decisions regarding patient outcomes.

Certified Medical Assistant Certificate – Application

Certified Medical Assistant’s (CMA) are an essential part of the healthcare team and work primarily in medical offices performing routine administrative and clinical duties. Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and billing/coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties include taking patient histories and vital signs, preparing patients for medical examinations and procedures, assisting healthcare providers with examinations and treatments, collecting and testing specimens, and educating patients on health promotion and disease prevention issues. This program is taught as a cohort with an application process. A certificate from TBCC provides classroom study and hands on training with local healthcare partners.  Program completion satisfies eligibility requirements for the national certification exam.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Certificate – Learn More

This program is designed to instruct students at the level of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).  EMT’s are a vital member of the healthcare team, assessing and caring for sick or injured patients in the pre-hospital and hospital environment. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to apply and sit for the National Registry EMT and the Oregon State EMT certification exams. Other relevant coursework is included, such as Medical Terminology, CPR/First Aid, and Health Careers, which will provide students with a path to the AAS degree in Criminal Justice and Public Safety.
